LASIK

What is LASIK?

LASIK corrects nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism, which are refractive errors caused by irregularly shaped or curved corneas. The goal of LASIK is to reshape the cornea so that it alters the way light enters the eye, and vision becomes sharper and more focused.

This can significantly reduce or eliminate your need for glasses and contacts, and give you crystal clear, high definition vision for decades. At Schwartz Laser Eye Center, our experienced ophthalmologists use advanced technologies like the iFS Advanced femtosecond laser, VISX CustomVue wavefront system, and the iDesign Advanced WaveScan Studio System to offer you personalized, precise treatment for the best visual outcomes.

Am I a Good Candidate for LASIK?

People who are over 18, in good health, and have a stable vision prescription that can be corrected with refractive surgery are generally good candidates for LASIK. During your initial consultation, Dr. Schwartz will examine your eyes to confirm whether LASIK is suitable for you.

Occasionally, factors like having a thin cornea or other eye conditions may make LASIK an inappropriate choice. In these cases, Dr. Schwartz may suggest an alternative procedure like PRK, ICL (implantable contact lens), or clear lens exchange to help you lower your dependency on prescription eyewear.

Testimonials

What Our Patients Are Saying

“Dr. Jay Schwartz truly changed my life. Before he performed my LASIK laser vision correction, I had hassled constantly, first with glasses and later with contacts. Now, whether I’m hiking or playing basketball or hitting the gym, I’m free. Plus, I have 20/15 vision — far better than what I had before. There’s a reason thousands of people come to see Dr. Schwartz for LASIK. He’s the best.”
- David L.
“For years, I thought about getting LASIK, but frankly was a little nervous. After the 10-minute, painless LASIK procedure, I was embarrassed that I had waited so long! I loved getting rid of the glasses! It’s the best money I’ve ever spent!”
- Brian O.
“LASIK surgery was the best thing I’ve ever done for myself. I no longer need to find my glasses before I can do anything, especially when waking up in the morning. My eyes are also no longer red and irritated from the contact lenses. There was no pain following the procedure, and I could see better just a few minutes after walking out of the operating room. By the next morning, my vision was 20/20, and it’s been that way ever since. I wonder why I didn’t do it sooner.”
- Val B.
